SPECIFICATIONS & PRODUCT DETAILS
What does AutoFloorGuard offer in way of sizes?
In-Stock AFG mats come in 3 sizes:
-
Compact AFG is approximately 7’9” x 16’ = 124 sq. ft.
-
Mid-Size AFG is approximately 7’9” x 18’ = 139.5 sq. ft.
-
SUV/Truck AFG is approximately 8’6” x 20’ = 170 sq. ft.
-
XL AFG is approximately 8’6” x 22’ = 187 sq. ft.
Each of these AFGs come with a new enhanced designed containment edge. To provide our customers with the best value possible our standard AFG mats in retail boxes are currently made overseas.
Custom Sizes:
-
Each custom size AFG is made to order by hand in our Perrysburg, Ohio factory.
-
Box size and weight is dependent on the AFG size.
-
Slightly larger containment edge than our in-stock mats.
-
Can take up to 2-3 weeks to ship after the order is received.
-
Custom size mats should only be ordered in ½ foot increments and use decimal format (example: 8.5’ instead of 8’6”).
-
If you order a custom size mat and an in-stock size mat IN THE SAME ORDER, then we will make all the mats in our Ohio factory to make sure we match up fabric quality.
-
If you order a custom mat first and then add another in-stock size later, the product may look different since the manufacturing process is different. You will also not get any extra bonus items that may be included in our in-stock items.
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot replace an in-stock mat that was previously purchased if you add a custom order later. Also, all custom-made AFGs are non-refundable.
What size AFG do I need?
Choose from our standard sizes that likely match up to your vehicle’s description (Compact, Mid-size and SUV/ Truck). If you want a more precise match you will need to determine the width and length of your vehicle.
Go to www.Edmunds.com and put in your vehicle’s information. Then look under specifications and you will be able to find the width and length of your vehicle.
Also consider these factors:
-
Length and width of garage (Can in-stock AFGs fit into your garage?)
-
Are you trying to fit two AFGs into your garage? (Will they overlap?)
-
Stuff in the garage (How tight do I need widthwise and lengthwise to be able to fit?)
-
Height of vehicle (If snow falls off my car, is it going to splash over the containment edge?)
-
What side do people get out of the car? (What side of the car can I cheat on?)
We suggest the ideal mat size would be approximately 2′ longer than your vehicle, and the absolute minimum mat size suggestion being approximately 1′ longer than your vehicle. Please use your own best judgement to make a final decision as it is the customer’s responsibility to confirm vehicle length as there are many variables.
Why is my AutoFloorGuard finished size slightly different than ordered or what is on the box?
Each AFG mat is cut and the foam edges are heat-sealed by hand. This process can cause slight deviations in the finished size. Compact, Mid-Size, SUV-Truck and Custom finished sizes are NOT guaranteed to be the exact size ordered. There may be slight length and width differences in the finished product, but we work to make those differences minimal.
What colors are available?
Black – AutoFloorGuard’s only color, no matter if you order Compact, Mid-Size, SUV/Truck or a Custom size
I opened the box and the AFG has some creases and wrinkles in the fabric. Do they go away?
Creases/wrinkles will lessen over time but may not go away completely. AutoFloorGuard is made of commercial Polyester Scrim that is manufactured with a coating process that allows for the PVC to coat and intertwine with the polyester strands . Once this type of fabric is heat-sealed to create our containment edge, it pulls the fabric slightly which creates a slightly imperfect rectangle. Over time and use, especially when the mat fills up with water and is cleaned by either broom or squeegee, the wrinkles begin to relax. Our Stay-Put Corners will also help by keeping the corners down and slightly stretched.
I opened the box and the edges seem flat. Do they come back?
Yes, they do. The edges will always have creases in them but will not affect the containment of liquid. Understand the mat is not designed like a pool which would fill up then be emptied. It is designed for snow, ice, and mud to be collected and cleaned on a regular basis to perform at its best.
Does the AFG mat have anti-slip properties?
Yes and No. All users must be extremely careful when the surface is wet. That being said, this type of fabric has two sides. The dull side of the mat (seam side) should be up and is much less slippery than the shiny side which should be in the down position.
Does AFG provide insulation or a vapor barrier?
AFG does not provide any insulation protection, but it does provide a vapor barrier to stop moisture from coming up from the floor directly onto items. This makes it ideal for use with classic cars.
Will moisture, oil, snow or mud be able to leak through?
AFG’s reinforced, heat-sealed, watertight seams and commercial grade PVC fabric will not allow liquids to leak through.
CARPET MAT
What are the benefits of AutoFloorGuard carpet mats?
AutoFloorGuard carpet mats provide the same protection as our containment mats but with a softer, more stylish look. These mats are ideal for transforming your garage into a showroom-quality space or multi-functional area, such as a gym or kids' playroom. They’re durable, absorbent, and offer a slip-resistant backing to stay securely in place.
How do carpet mats protect garage floors?
AutoFloorGuard carpet mats feature a patented absorbent fabric that captures spills, wicks away moisture, and prevents liquids from penetrating the surface below. The waterproof backing stops liquids from soaking through, ensuring your garage floor stays clean and dry.
Can the carpet mats be used in commercial spaces?
Yes! Our carpet mats are versatile and durable enough for both residential and commercial spaces. They’re great for showrooms, workshops, or any area where you want the added touch of a carpet-like feel with the same reliable floor protection.
What colors are available?
Black – AutoFloorGuard’s only color, no matter if you order Compact, Mid-Size, SUV/Truck or a Custom size
How do I clean my carpet mat?
Carpet mats are easy to maintain. Simply vacuum the surface regularly to remove dirt and debris. For spills, spot clean with a mild detergent. If the mat becomes oversaturated, use a squeegee or wet-vac to speed up the drying process.
Can carpet mats be cut to fit?
Yes! Our carpet mats can be easily cut to fit your specific garage layout using scissors, and the edges will not fray or split. You can also combine multiple mats to cover larger areas or customize around steps and other obstructions.
SET-UP & USE
Do I need to assemble my AutoFloorGuard?
No. Each AFG comes fully assembled. All you need to do is open the box and unfold the mat, and it is ready to use. Please see other posts regarding wrinkles and creases that the mat may have after opening.
What tools are needed for installation?
No special tools are required. Be careful when you open the box, do NOT use a sharp object which could cut the fabric and void any warranty
Is there any special prep work required before installation?
Sweeping or blowing the floor prior to installation is recommended. Make sure you do not have any sharp edges or old paint/caulk that could cause indentations in the mat.
Which side is supposed to be up?
AFG mats should be placed with the seam side up to:
-
Create more of a tray effect to collect rain, snow, mud or other fluids.
-
Provide a slight texture to the mat, making it less slippery overall.
-
Allow the mat to lay flatter on the garage floor.
Can AFG mats be used outdoors?
Yes. However, even though AutoFloorGuard mats are infused with a UV-inhibitor, prolonged sun exposure can cause color fading.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
How should we clean/maintain the product?
A cleaner surface helps maintain a longer life for AFG. Clean the mat weekly with a soft bristle broom, mop, or squeegee. We recommend keeping the edge of the AFG mat right before the garage door near the threshold and hosing the AFG mat with a mild kitchen detergent to remove dirt and debris. If the mat is soiled with oil and other chemicals, then please use proper disposal (check with your local government).
What tools are needed for installation?
Yes. We have tested a simple repair method using a readily available patch called Tear-Aid Type B (available from Amazon). The best way to repair a tear or rip in your AFG is to follow the instructions on Tear-Aid Type B patch. Clean the affected area with rubbing alcohol and let dry, then place on patch (slightly larger than tear) on each side of the mat.
I left my car parked on the edge I drive in from and it doesn't seem to
have as good as an edge as it used to...how can I fix that?
Rotate the AFG from front-to-back, so the front end would now be closest to the garage threshold.
ACCESSORIES
How do I install the NEW Stay-Put Corners? What prep work must be done?
The first step is to get the proper location of your AutoFloorGuard in your garage. Then, make sure that each corner of the mat where the Stay-Put Corners are going to be placed is dry and clean. We know many customers are installing our mats during the winter when it’s cold; the best way is to clean the area with a rag and use a hair dryer on a high setting which will dry and heat up the floor perfectly for application of the corners.
You will have two pads for each corner: one for the mat and one for the floor. We recommend using gentle heat to apply the mat-side pad and place the pad within about 6 inches of each edge of the mat. Press firmly. Then, attach the Velcro of the floor pad to the Velcro of the mat pad. Apply heat to the floor and just slightly heat the glue side of the floor pad. Push down to the floor. Step firmly on the corner and let it adhere. Repeat for each corner. Be careful not to pull too hard when attaching the other corners. Click the following link to view a video tutorial https://www.autofloorguard.com/stay-put-corners.cfm
**Please note some garage floors will not work with the adhesive on our Stay-Put-Corners and it is not the fault of the material. No guarantee that these will adhere to your surface.
I got a squeegee and pole in my box; how do I use it?
Simply attach the telescoping pole by screwing it onto the squeegee head.
CUSTOM AFG
Why is my Custom size AutoFloorGuard pricing higher per sq. ft. for mats over 400 sq. ft.?
The reason for this price increase is the shipping costs related to sending mats of these sizes.
How are custom AFG mats different than in-stock AFG mats?
We make them to size for special vehicles, ATV’s, motor homes etc. Each custom mat is made by hand in Perrysburg, OH. No Stay-Put Corners or squeegee with telescoping pole are included with our custom mats.
Why is my Custom AutoFloorGuard finished size slightly different than ordered?
Each AFG mat is cut independently and the foam edges are heat-sealed by hand. This process can cause slight deviations in the finished size depending on how the fabric reacts to the heat as it is sealed. There may be slight length and width differences in the finished product, but we try to be as close as possible.
Why does my Custom AutoFloorGuard look different than the standard sized mat that I purchased?
Our custom process in our factory in Perrysburg OH differs from our mass production process of our standard sizes. Although functionally the same, the mats will have cosmetic differences. If you need them to look identical, you can order both mats to be made custom. This can be done by contacting our office before you complete the ordering process and explaining your request (See contact us).
